If my people, who are called by my name, will humble them selves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then
2Chron 7:14
I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
When all that’s said and all that’s done beneath the rays of winter sun, God’s solemn voice to us is clear like distant echoes of a drum.
It tells us why the things we see around us are so patently
Besmirched by ruined hopes and dreams and marred by toil pervasively. God’s unseen providential hand perceiving where His traitors stand,
Pulls back the arrows of His bow and marks the place where each will land. Their impacts few men comprehend – supposing that God would not send Cold rain upon this lovely scene that serves our pleasure to suspend.
Why do we suffer as we do? Why do we sorrow through and through?
Could what was shown to Solomon for us who live today be true?
We are the Church; we love God’s Name and seek to spread abroad its fame! Must we who know God’s judgement be the ones who really are to blame?
Hmmmmm ….. Could it be?
The mischief lurking everywhere that fills our hearts with grief and care
Our God has purposed so that we might seek His face in humble prayer.
But why? Because our feet are slow; we think we’re smart, we think we know; And so, we choose another path and shun the Maker’s way to go.
If we beseech God’s throne on high and seek Him with a single eye,
The Lord has promised He will heal this land in which we live and die.
Let us admit our wantonness and here confess our wickedness;
Perchance He’ll heal us with His balm and turn from cursing us to bless.
